Elusive Black Triangles

Extremely large, and slow moving triangles have been seen by witnesses. Most of the time, these travel so slowly, that people say they can keep up with it by jogging. Sometimes, they will come to a complete stop, or make turns by rotating around one of its tips. Also, they can be very large, usually between one and two football fields long. Another interesting feature, is that these objects fly very low to the ground, and make no sound.

In almost all cases, they are described as being completely black, reflecting no light. Only its shape is discernable as it is backlit against an overcast sky, or when it blocks out the stars above. In fact some witnesses have reported small lights on the underside that create a false starfield. This "Constellation Camoflage" moves along the underside, as the craft moves. They say it resembles the distortion effect created by cloacked spaceships in the Star Trek movies. Overall, the shapes that have been reported vary from an equalateral triangle, or an arrowhead to a boomerang, or chevron.
Propulsion
These craft have been seen near Antelope Valley, the home of Lockheed-Martin's Skunk Works, as well as the development houses for other defense contractors. It is rumored that they are based near there, and are kept in underground hangars to keep it away from prying eyes. In all likelyhood, these vehicles are manmade, and operate via conventional technology. It's very unlikely that they use any exotic antigravity propulsion, although it is rumored that the Air Force does indeed have such technology.
The large size, and slow velocity suggests that these are lighter than air ships filled with helium. Also called stealth blimps, these craft probably use slowly turning propellers to move silently. The illustrations show an airship that uses continuously curved surfaces (like the B-2 Bomber) to maintain stealth. Note the sharp edges or chines, similar to the SR-71 Spy Plane. These help to reduce the radar cross-section. Also, no propellers are visible, since it could also use ion propulsion, which accelerates air molecules across its surface to generate thrust. Some people have reported seeing a faint blue glow at the tips indicating ionized gas.
Purpose
It is speculated that these ships are used for detecting stealth aricraft. They are equipped with powerful radar transmitters, and tip vertically to create an electromagnetic "fence". any stealth plane that passes between it, and the receiver will be detected. If this is the case, then the military will not be admitting to such a vehicle for a very long time. At least, until stealth becomes obsolete.
Another possible use of this type of aircraft is to deploy covert troops. I am including a rather amusing report I found at the NUFORC website. I am not suggesting that it is true, so take it with a grain of salt. The URL is http://www.msatech.com/nuforc/webreports/S11869.html
Occurred : 1/30/2000 23:15 (Entered as : 01/30/00 23:15)Reported : 2/3/2000 09:34Posted : 2/16/2000Location : San Francisco, CAShape : TriangleEncountered large triangular object while night fishing off Farlon Island and fired 100 rounds of 22 ammo at it.On the evening of Super Bowl Sunday, I was hauling up a line of crab traps off Farlon Island with my dog aboard our 25' boat. While leaning over the side, my dog started to bark furiously. I looked up and saw a huge triangular object hovering above with NO sound. I was hit by a beam of white light and fell backward onto the sole of the cabin. I grabbed my Ruger 10-22 rifle loaded with a 100 round banana magazine and stared firing as fast as I could until the clif was empty. I was able to shoot out the light. While grabbing for a second clip, I saw a hatch open up on the bottom side of the object and two people leaned down to yell "STOP SHOOTING AS US YOU IDIOT". The only other noise I heard was a hissing sound like air escapeing from a flat tire or something. As the object move off to the south, I saw a helocopter come out off the top and move in next to my boat about 20' off the water and 50' way. Someone in the side door held up a camera and flash off a picture of me in the boat holding the rifle. The helocopter made no noise and had no markings on it. It was solid flat black as was the huge Triangle. The chopper then took off toward the Golden Gate bridge climbing up. The Triangle slowing gained altitude and was last seen heading south. I left the area for port and went out Wednesday to finish hauling in my traps. At first I thought it was an alien UFO and was genunly startled by it. However, I now believe it was an experimental military platform for transporting a small fleet of black helocopters that leave and enter out of the top of a huge silent floating triangle the size of a football field. A rigid airship if you will.((NUFORC Note: This may be the first report we have received that has the occupants of such a craft using a camera with a flash attachment..))

Other Triangluar Aircraft

Northrop F-121 "Sentinel"- Equilateral, black triangular plan form with the tips flattened. The sides slope upwards and give it a pyramidal shape. A dome shaped nozzled at the bottom allow it to take off vertically from underground hangars. A squadron of planes are based in Tehachapi.

TR-3A "Black Manta"- Another black triangular airplane with a rounded nose, and wingtips, giving it a manta ray-like appearance. It is a tactical reconaissance plane that can illuminate targets with a laser for the F-117 to hit. It's possible that it was first used in the Gulf War.

"Artichoke"- This replacement to the F-117 is already in operation, and is based at the Tonopah Test Range (TTR). The F-117 "Nighthawk" was originaly based at TTR, but have been move to Holloman Air Force Base. It is a two seater capable of carrying a larger bomb load than the F-117. The Nighthawk may be diverted to SAM hunting, "Wild Weasel" roles.

The A-12 Avenger II (replacement for the A-6 "Intruder") was a black budget program. It was cancelled after numerous development problems.
