FAQs
Q: I have an ATI Radeon based card, and the colors are awful, with banding everywhere. How do I fix this?
A: ATI has had a lot problems with their OpenGL drivers. Open your ATI display panel, and access the OpenGL settings. Change the Texture Quality setting to Highest Quality. Some ATI driver versions do not work properly with OpenGL. This problem has been corrected on Catalyst drivers 4.x, and higher.
Q: I don't have a Radeon or Geforce based 3D card. Will I be able to run the screensaver?
A: Other types of cards have not been tested, but you can download the free edition and test compatability with your card. Workfarce uses the OpenGL standard, so you must have a card with the latest OpenGL drivers, as well as hardware support for Transform, and Lighting (T&L). Also, your 3D card should have at least 32 MB of RAM.
Q: Where do I download OpenGL drivers?
A: Windows 98 and later already have support for OpenGL built in to the operating system. The drivers that support the latest OpenGL standard are included with your video card's drivers. If you install the latest driver package, you should be up to date.
Q: The screen saver is very choppy, and has a low framerate, why?
A: Windows 98 and ME are not as efficient as Windows 2000 or XP for running this type of application. Also, any application (antivirus, web browsers, etc.) running in the background will use CPU cycles. Many webpages will run java, and flash programs on your computer. Close any browser, and see if it helps. A fast graphics card is helpful, but this screen saver uses a lot of CPU resources. You should be running at least a Pentium III, 1 GHz.
