Win Serf is a 3D world clock, alarm, and reminder program. This beautiful program is an indispensible tool for the industrious person. You will see a 3D model of the earth change from day to night in synchronization with the real earth and sun. This can be a very intuitive way to tell time, as you watch the sun's position move relative to your location. If you need a real analog clock, you can add one. You can also add up to four world clocks that display the time in major international cities. In addition to the clock functions, Win Serf is a helpful task reminder. Your tasks are displayed, and rotated periodically. It's a neat and clean way to refresh your memory. No more cluttered monitor, or a desk full of sticky notes. Win Serf also includes other fun and useful features. One of them is the option to display humorous quotes. These quotes are motivational in nature, and will help you get through your day. Another cool feature is the RSS headline reader. It will automatically grab the latest headlines for you. When you click on a headline, Win Serf will open your browser, and take your to the story. There are RSS links located at the bottom of this page.
The alarm function lets you set up to 10 daily alarms. You can also specify which day or days of the week to sound the alarms. If you prefer, you can use an MP3 file as your alarm.
You can set due dates for any task. On the day a task is due, you will get a reminder message. Also, you can set it to remind you again.
With the ultra slim, ticker window option, your tasks will remain visible yet be completely out of the way. If you choose the 3D window option, you'll be treated to an amzaing view of the earth. The 3D model of the earth was created from high resolution images captured by NASA. Even the city lights are NASA images taken from orbit.
Version 2.10 has a bug in the world clock. It is on the older daylight savings time schedule. So, the clocks will be 1 hour off for a few weeks. I fixed this in a newer version, but the 3D engine has a major bug which prevents me from releasing it. I contacted the developer of this software but received no help. Obviously, I will no longer be using their product in the future. As far as I know, the other features work fine.
